States also need to do their part, by making higher education a higher priority in their budgets. And colleges and universities have to do their part by working to keep costs down. Recently, I spoke with a group of college presidents who’ve done just that. Some schools re-design courses to help students finish more quickly. Some use better technology. The point is, it’s possible. So let me put colleges and universities on notice: If you can’t stop tuition from going up, the funding you get from taxpayers will go down.

Apparently Tumblr doesn’t really understand how devastating rape is because all that’s on my dashboard right now is criticism directed towards people who had the gall to bring up Joe Paterno’s horrific record of silencing child rape, even after his death.
A man anally raped (yes, that’s what actually happened) several children and Joe Paterno did nothing about it but we’re not supposed to talk about that because he just died.
Several lives are ruined because that man was too much of a coward to speak up. There is no greater evil in the world than when people see evil and do nothing about it. There is a special type of cruelty embodied in those who view evil with indifference.
The man just died though. We’re the ones being nasty and cruel.
